Etymology
Under the British, the island was known as King Island,
King's Island, and later as Kadan Island or Kadan Kyun, based on the local pronunciation.
Communities
Among the communities on Kadan Island are Gyindaungchaung, Kabingyaung, Kapa, Kyataw, Mayanchaung, Tharawuntaungnge and Yemyitkyi.
